Hi, I’m Karen Thatcher (the Thatch behind the Creative), I’m based in Ashford, Kent.
I began my career as a Nurse, but I’m now a Freelance Creative and Comms Consultant, specialising in (but not limited to) church and charity comms. (Slightly different working environment!)
I am passionate about helping and equipping people to communicate the voice of their organisation in a creative and sustainable way, tailored to their specific resources and abilities. Authentic storytelling is powerful and I love to reflect identity into every area of my freelance projects, from branding; to videography and everything in between. I strive for excellence because excellent communication makes people feel valued and they deserve the very best that I can give them.
Excellence is at the heart of WHAT I create, community is at the heart of WHY I create.
At the very centre of my business is empathy which is at the heart of WHO I am as a person, and I believe that empathy is key to communicating well.

Communications Consultancy
I offer bespoke communications consultancy for churches, charities and small businesses. How that looks will depend on your needs. But in the simplest form, I come in, look around your current comms strategies and make a plan to “overhaul” and refresh your brand and your ways of communicating who you are. Communications packages include high quality digital design, a tailor made ‘Communications Guidelines’ pack for your organisation, and basic social media and communications training to teach you how to maintain your communications goals when I’m done.

Logos & Branding
Whether you’re a brand new organisation, you’re due a refresh/high quality files of your current logo, or you’ve been up and running for a while but you’re just taking the plunge into branding, I’d love to help you develop a logo that reflects who you are and what you stand for!

Design for Print
Looking for wedding invites; flyers; business cards; loyalty cards; posters or something else? I can help you develop printed material that works for anything you want to promote! If you can think it up, I can probably design it… If you don’t quite know what you’re looking for, I can help you dream too!
Web Development
I offer small-scale web development, for brand new sites, or updating your current webspace. Maintaining a complex website when you’re busy, is tough. I like to make it easy to keep your webspace up-to-date, teaching you the easiest ways to keep it going yourself, after set-up!

Photography and Videography
I offer a wide variety of Photography and Videography services.
Whether you’re a couple who want some engagement photos, maternity photos, you’re after some simple shots of your business in action, interview style videos to reflect your business, or simple promos for social media, I can adapt to your needs. Story telling is key in photos and videos, and I’m ready to help you tell your story…. I just need to get to know you a bit first!
Training
Communications is my bread and butter, I love it and I’m passionate about it, but I know that not everyone “gets” it. If you’d like to learn more to help you grow in whatever role you’re in, I’d love to help you. Get in touch, and we can talk about what training you need for you, or for your team, to help you be the best that you can be!
